Grambling’s Alexis Holt named BOXTOROW All-American

Grambling State University graduate guard Alexis Holt was named to the BOXTOROW All-American Team on Wednesday. 

Holt, a First Team All-Southwestern Athletic Conference (SWAC) performer and SWAC All-Tournament team selection, played in all 30 games for Grambling State. She averaged 36.6 minutes, while contributing 17.0 points, 5.3 rebounds, 3.5 assists and 2.0 steals per game. In addition, the Epps, La. native shot nearly 41 percent from the floor and 74.2 percent from the foul line. 

In the conference tournament, Holt played all 40 minutes in a quarterfinal win over Alabama A&M where she registered 15 points, six rebounds, five assists and two steals. In the semifinal loss to Alabama State, Holt placed the Lady Tigers with a game-high 24 points, six boards, five assists and one steal. 

Joining Holt as First Team All-Americans were Andriana Avent and Ataiya Bridges (Texas Southern), Ayana Emmanuel (Alabama State), Zaay Green (Arkanas-Pine Bluff), Dariauna Lewis (Alabama A&M) and Ameshya Williams-Holliday (Jackson State). 

Jaia Alexander (Coppin State), Camille Downs and Deja Francis (Norfolk State), Anzhane’ Hutton (Howard), Chanin Scott (North Carolina A&T State) and Nylah Young (Hampton) were named Second Team All-Americans. 

Jackson State swept the major awards as Williams-Holliday was named the BOXTOW Player of the Year, while Tomekia Reed earned the BOXTOROW Coach of the Year honor.
